UNO-R celebrates Philippine Arts’ Month

The University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos joins in the celebration of the Philippine Arts’ month. Believing that art is an expression of one’s vision of the environment, the university sponsored the art exhibition of Larry Guillema, a local but internationally known artist and a member of the Dihon Dibuhista  mga nagahili-ugyon sa Negros art group.  His exhibits will run from February 11 to 20, 2016 at the Museo Rekoleto de Negros.  His art medium are terra cotta for sculpture and acrylic and oil for paintings.

Larry is a visual artist, stage performer and sculptor.  He is considered as one multi-talented artist of Negros.  He is a native of Isabela, Negros Occidental.  He started to develop his craft at age 13.  He finished his Bachelor of Fine Arts at La Consolacion College in Bacolod.  One could see the beauty of the interplay of nature and culture in his artworks.  Among the artworks on exhibit are: (Paintings) Bag-ong Tuig; Bunga sang  Gugma; Kasanag; Manlugayaw; Pagutok; Praise;  (Sculptures) Layaly sa Lati; Hudyat; Gugma; Paghimud-os; and Mercy.
