Recoletos School of Theology: Solemn Investiture 2017

Mira-Nila Homes, Quezon City – May 27, 2017, the closing of the Academic Year, 2016-2017, at Recoletos School of Theology (RST) was highlighted with the graduation of twenty-four students.  From this batch, seven Augustinian Recollect friars received the degree in Bachelor in Sacred Theology, and eight received the degree in Master of Arts in Theology.

The Baccalaureate Mass started at 7:30 AM and it was held in the parish church of Our Lady of Consolation.  Fray Lauro V. Larlar, OAR, rector of RST, was the main celebrant and homilist.  The Augustinian Recollect priests who composed the RST School Chapter, and priests from the other congregations who form the RST Council of Formators concelebrated with the Father Rector.

After a short break, “The Commencement Exercises,” began at 9:15 AM.  Rev. Fr. Rodel E. Aligan, OP, Dean of the Faculty of Sacred Theology of the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, Manila, conferred on the 23 graduates the degree in Bachelor in Sacred Theology.  Fray Benjamine Edobor, OAR, Fray Jessriel L. Marcha, OAR, and Fray Maximilian Omem, OAR, graduated with honors, Magna cum laude. Fray Jovy A. Gallego, OAR, and Fray Andrie S. Pugate, OAR, graduated also with honors, Cum laude.

Rev. Fr. Lauro V. Larlar, OAR, conferred on the following OAR candidates the degree in Master of Arts in Theology:

Fray Jessriel L. Marcha, OAR, received the award of Meritissimus for the best thesis, “The Church’s Teaching on the Preferential Option for the Poor as Enrichment for Aloysius Schwart’s Concept of Poverty.”

Fray Maximilian Omem, OAR, for his thesis, “The Imperative ‘…Love your enemies…’ (Matt, 5:43-48) A Normative Paradigm Against Tribalism in Contemproary Nigerian Society,” Fray Jovy A. Gallego, OAR, for his thesis, “The Rightful Autonomy of Created Realities in Gaudium et Spes’ Moral Teachings on the Environment,” and Fray Tomokatsu N. Yamaguchi, OAR, for his thesis, “The Ethical Assessment of the Use of Cannabis in Medicine According to the Catholic Moral Teachings,” received the award of Meritus.
