Reflection: As we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus et Sanguis Christi, we are invited to reflect on our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharistic Species that we receive in Holy Communion.

Many Christians today, deny the Presence of Christ in Eucharist, but our readings this day express this reality. St. Paul clearly exhorts in his 1st Letter to the Corinthians that the Bread and Wine that we share is a participation in life of Christ. Denial of this reality, is a denial of Christ’s redemptive death and resurrection, it is also a denial of the words of Christ that we have in our gospel this Sunday, “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” The Eucharist that we sacrifice and share is, therefore, the sacrament of the Cross and Resurrection of the Lord, the sacrament of our salvation and redemption.

May this celebration renew us and make us realize how great the Eucharist is. May we also dispose ourselves to receive the Eucharistic Lord with great love and filial devotion.
