Pilgrim Relics of Saint Rita of Cascia graces San Sebastian Basilica

MANILA–Devotees, expatriate, and Sunday Mass attendees welcomed the pilgrim relics of Saint Rita of Cascia on Pentecost Sunday, June 9, 2019, at San Sebastian Basilica, Quiapo, Manila. These relics were Saint Rita’s cincture and a piece of bone were kept in her monastery shrine in Cascia, Italy since her death in 1457.

Reverend Fr. Julius Marcos, OAR, ministered the welcome mass. Just before the final blessing, Reverend Fr. Alexus E. Mansueto, OAR carried the relics in procession from the entrance of the Church towards the altar. The sacred roses were also blessed to be given to people especially to those who are sick in prayers that they may be healed through the intercession of Saint Rita.

It was then placed for people to venerate until 10:00 P.M of the same day. Here is the schedule for the following day, June 10, 2019:

  • 6:00 A.M.- Regular Mass
  • 7:00 A.M.- Regular Mass
  • 8:00 A.M.- Veneration
  • 12:00 NN- 5:00 P.M. -Visit to Saint Rita College
  • 6:00 P.M.- Farewell Mass at San Sebastian Basilica
