San Carlos City, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL–Louie Ivan Y. Tolcidas, of Section Nuestra Señora de La Salud (STEM Strand), 18 years old, passed the evaluation and examination held last April 11-13, 2019 at the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Negros Occidental Council.

Tolcidas, who is among the four Eagle Scout passers in San Carlos City, now has 23 Merit Badges which represent BSP courses and trainings. He is currently the trainer of Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos scouts who are in the scouting advancement course and is an active leader in school-based scouting activities.

For this Thomasian scout, the Eagle Scout Rank means that one must be “ready to serve all people, [exudes] the scouting spirit, and is ready to make a difference” in the community.

As an aspiring civil engineer, Tolcidas believes that scouting may not be academically related to engineering but it is now equipping him with the right values and skills as he pursues his life goals.

The Eagle Scout Rank, which has boosted the Tolcidas’ confidence and changed his outlook of our society, is available only for scouts aged 12 to 19.

He now encourages his brothers and sisters Thomasian scouts to aspire and work hard to qualify for the Eagle Scout Rank and in the process “find their true selves in scouting.”

For this Eagle Scout, who has proven that he is worthy of his uniform and badges, he is now ready to help his community in ways that only a Thomasian scout can./GRPQT
