Urbiztondo, PANGASINAN—A caravan promoting the devotion to the sacred image of Sto. Cristo DIvino Tesoro de Urbiztondo was launched on February 14, 2020. Led by the Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Fray Joseph Cyprian Panaligan, OAR,  the parish community started the caravan at 6 AM. This was also in line with the 95th barangay fiesta in honor of the sacred image.

To further spread the devotion to the sacred image, the Recollect parish in Urbiztondo tapped the nearby parishes to pray novena in honor of Sto. Cristo Divino Tesoro.  The caravan visited nearby parishes where parishioners were given a chance to venerate the sacred image. The first stop was in Senor Divino Tesoro Shrine, Calasiao, Pangasinan. Then at Sto. Domingo Parish in San Carlos City. St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Parish in Malacanang, Pangasinan was also visited. Then the caravan moved to St. Pius V in Urbiztondo before going to the Municipal Hall of Urbiztondo, its last stop.

In his short exhortation, Fray Joseph Cyprian Panaligan, OAR, reminded the people about the true value of their devotion towards the Sto. Cristo Divino Tesoro de Urbiztondo. He emphasized that “in this material world, the most important treasure that we should consider is Jesus Christ Himself.  He is our true wealth among any other material belongings that we possess. Certainly, He is our divine treasure.” Moreover, since the event had coincided with Valentine’s Day, Fray Joseph reminded the lay faithful about the true essence of love. He highlighted the symbol of the sacred image which reveals the self-less love of the crucified Christ for all of us. It was a call for all the faithful devotees to deepen their understanding of love, especially in this modern time.
