Bacolod City, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL–On the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, May 1, 2020, our postulant Sr. Flora Mae Cañete began her Novitiate formation. She was accepted by Rev. Mo. Maria Emy A. Catalonia, OAR, the present Mother Prioress of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Monastery community. Mo. Emy, entrusted the care and formation of Sr. Flora Mae to Sr. Ma. Del Carmen Orduña, OAR, the present Novice Mistress.

Sr. Flora Mae hails from Brgy. Bana-go, Bacolod City. She was a former student of UNO-R. While studying at the university, she felt the call to the religious life when she, together with her group of friends, had a visit to the monastery. This visit awaken her desire for religious and contemplative life. After few years of discernment and formation as an aspirant, she entered the monastery last January 15, 2016 at the age of 22.

Today marks the beginning of a new journey. The learning how to climb the mountain of holiness and become daughter of St. Augustine and of the Augustinian Recollection. With one heart and soul intent upon God, let us join her in thanking God for the gift of Contemplative Vocation and becoming also as one of the front liners in prayer. Let us also pray for her holy perseverance in the journey to become the person God wants her to be. Amen.
