THE parable of the sower has its pious significance in the lives of people as reflected in Luke 7:11: 18.

One very good point was about the seed (word of God) that fell on good soil or on people who received the word and kept it in a gentle and generous mind and persevering patiently, they bear fruit.

Some of the contemplative nuns of St. Ezekiel Moreno Monastery in Bacolod City made use of their time to sew fabric face masks and and make personal protective equipment (PPEs) for the frontliners who are risking their lives to help cure and save the lives of patients who are enduring the coronavirus disease.

A former seasoned broadcast journalist in Bacolod City, Agnes Lira Jundos had the opportunity to visit the cloistered nuns who considered their contemplative lives as an infinite quarantine in serving the Lord and humanity.

They made those essentials as complimentary for those who are serving their fellowmen during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“They were sewing for the sowers and they are happy to share those essentials to those in need of them,” Jundos shared.

They continue to pray for humanity that they will be able to survive the grueling effects of Covid-19 to the people and the economy.

“I was able to get in touch with them recently relative to the anniversary of the conversion of St. Augustine last Friday. They said that they would like people to know and appreciate our contemplative life,” she added.

She recalled that she met the nuns of St. Ezekiel Monastery while she was serving as the communications consultant for the Office of the EVP for External Affairs of the OAR Community at University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City where they had an official visit to the monastery during the centennial of the death of their patronal saint Ezekiel Moreno sometime in 2006.

“I was in touched with them again when I asked for a medal with relics of St. Ezekiel Moreno requested by a friend from Iloilo whose uncle is a devotee of St. Ezekiel, a cancer survivor,” she said.
