CEBU CITY–The University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R) distributed a sack of rice and financial assistance to 22 coaches and assistant coaches under the USJ-R Jaguars Sports Program.

The beneficiaries are residents from various places within Cebu City, Lapu-lapu City and Minglanilla.

The first distribution of goods started last June 17, while the second and recent distribution was on September 25.

In an online interview, Atty. Jesus D. Velez revealed that the distribution of goods commenced in consideration of the coaches’ livelihoods, which were stalled due to the restrictions the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) placed upon amateur sports practices and competitions.

“Considering that the IATF does not allow amateur sports practices and competitions since March, the livelihood of some of the coaches are affected, specially those who are relying solely on coaching. Thus, USJ-R extends help to them,” Atty. Velez said.

The coaches also received assistance from various donors such as local roast chicken proprietor Chooks to Go! and the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI).
