Mira Nila Homes, QUEZON CITY–Fray Leander Barrot was recently appointed as the new Rector of the Recoletos School of Theology (RST) in Miranila, Quezon City, while Fray Ian Anthony Espartero was appointed as the new Dean of Studies.
These major tour of duty came about in view of the demands “to foster the development of RST into a ‘Center for Theological and Augustinian Studies, Culture and Spirituality in the Province’,” said Fray Lauro Larlar, quoting the Life and Mission Project of the Province for this quadrennium.
Fray Larlar voluntarily tendered his resignation as rector “to give way to the Vice-Rector, whose managerial skills and love for the school of theology are truly what we need today.” With this, he deemed his resignation as “necessary.”
On the other hand, Fray Espartero took over the deanship formerly held by Fray Radni Caparas as the latter had taken his leave of absence.
Last June, RST received the good news namely, the renewal of its affiliation with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) for another five years.
This approval by the Congregation for Catholic Education “was an added impetus for our collaboration as we continue to improve the academic standards of RST for the service of the Church,” noted Fr. Rodel Aligan OP, Dean of USTs Faculty of Theology.
